More than two thousand zlotys for a historical rail

The rail got sold for as much as PLN 2 261 at our Allegro charity on-line auction. Aggressive bidding could be observed until the last moments of the auction. The money will be transferred to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity that will play for the twenty-second time this year.

We put the rail up for auction on the 25th of November. On the same day we handed over the two remaining fragments of the rail to the Museum of the History of Poznań and the staff of the 22nd GOCC Final at the Student Government of Poznań University of Technology.

Where did the rails at the premises of Poznań International Fair come from? Rails at MTP premises are indeed older than the fair itself. Some publications mention that rails were laid at fair premises as early as in 1856 in order to construct the Poznań - Leszno - Wrocław route. A sidetrack was constructed in 1929 for the Polish General Exhibition and it was disassembled this year. The rail sold today on Allegro, a partner in our campaign, originated from that sidetrack.

Together with the rail, the buyer will also receive an authenticity certificate for the article. We congratulate the winner!
